In June of 2014 the Colorado SAA submitted a TTA request to NCJA on behalf of the the Adams County CJCC. The request sought assistance with localized strategic planning to assist the CJCC identify areas of consensus that could drive CJCC efforts.
Update: At the request of the Colorado SAA, NCJA in the summer of 2014 began working with the Adams County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) to help them identify priority areas for future work. In specific, CJCC staff wanted help with identifying priority projects that will impact multiple system stakeholders and address the drivers of crime within the County. As part of this assistance, NCJA and CJCC staff created a stakeholder engagement survey designed to be used with the small group of 15 decision makers that compose the CJCC. Working collaboratively NCJA and CJCC developed a survey tool which sought to solicit opinions on drivers of crime, greatest justice system needs, areas of collaboration and specific needs within multiple elements of the counties justice system.

During this reporting period NCJA worked with the Adams County CJCC staff to create a PowerPoint to relay survey results to CJCC membership. The result of this presentation was the development of a number of sub-committees to begin working on identified areas of need. In specific, the CJCC created an Information Sharing and Behavioral Health Sub-Committees to begin working on initiatives that will impact multiple CJCC partners. Toward the end of the reporting period the Information Sharing Sub-Committee visited the DC CJCC along with NCJA staff to learn about some of the information sharing work going on in the district. In addition, NCJA staff began work with the Behavioral Health Sub-Committee to assist them with mapping how individuals with behavioral health issues enter and exit Adams Counties CJ Systems. In the next reporting period NCJA staff will assist CJCC staff with using the Sequential Intercept Model to begin mapping their current justice system and identify opportunities for diversion, intervention and improvements in the continuity of care as individuals exit the county’s jail.
