The Santa Maria, California Police Department (PD) requested a crime analysis assessment. OnPoint Analytics was selected to fulfill the request and conducted an assessment between October 2018 and May 2019. OnPoint Analytics delivered a final recommendations report to Santa Maria PD in May 2019.

We are revamping our Crime Analysis program. We currently have one crime analyst, who has very limited experience. Given our lack of experience in this field, we are seeking a level of expertise to aid us in reassessing our needs, current capabilities and setting strategic goals for this unit.

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
In order to gain a truly objective, structured, practical and experience-based perspective on where we are, where we need to be, and how to get there, we need someone with the knowledge that Annie Mitchell has. To be honest, none of us have this knowledge, so given to our own devices, it's kind of like the blind leading the blind. Simply put, we don't know what we don't know. I was so impressed with the course I took, in which Annie taught, I came to realize how much a fully functioning crime analysis program can bring to an agency, this has become mission critical for us.
