CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit to Los Angeles as part of the Economic and Workforce Development Department?s FY17 SCA Implementing County and Statewide Plans to Improve Outcomes for Youth in the Juvenile Justice System grant to accomplish the following:

????????? Conduct a readiness assessment. Conduct a series of focus groups and interviews to better understand the current system, including strengths and opportunities for improvement. This includes a discussion about the case planning process and coordination process among the various stakeholders involved, the Youth Source center process and services received, and the youth camp experience.
????????? Discuss strategy for integrating into probation?s current educational and vocational work. Understand the current process for assessing risk and needs, developing a case plan, reentry planning, and making sure educational and vocational services are in place. Discuss the policies and procedures that should to be in place upon implementation to integrate this into the PPP process.?
????????? Strengthen stakeholder coordination. Meet with probation to walk through these processes and discuss the merging of a juvenile justice and education and employment model, while making sure the services are research based and data and quality assurance processes are in place to make sure the program is effective.

Meet with the Operational Work group to learn about the current case planning process and implementation plan and identify the policies and procedures to be in place upon implementation.

Technical assistance partners and grant leadership will debrief and discuss next steps and the development of a workplan that includes key deliverables and TA to support these.
