CJI has delivered trainings to Utah community and facility staff to help align supervision with evidence based practices. Past trainings have covered Principles of Effective Intervention, Core Correctional Practices, Effective Case Management, and Graduated Responses. After those trainings, Utah expressed interest in getting further training in Advanced Core Correctional Practices. In response, CJI developed a training on Advanced Core Correctional Practices for Utah’s staff which builds on the earlier trainings they received. These advanced skills build on others staff learned in a basic CCP training, and provide additional tools staff can use to support behavior change and improve supervision outcomes.

In the spring of 2018, CJI prepared materials for a training in Utah of Advanced Core Correctional Practices (Advanced CCP) skills that build off the basic CCP training Utah correctional staff received earlier in the TA period.
In April and May, CJI delivered the Advanced CCP training to a group of 12 Probation and Parole officers, These advanced skills build on those staff learned earlier, and provide additional tools staff can use to support behavior change and improve supervision outcomes. CJI delivered the training in several steps as a Train the Trainer training. This ensures the state will be able to continue training their staff in Advanced CCP even after CJI's TA ends.
