The Gainesville, Florida Police Department recently deployed a new violent crime task force in response to a year-to-date surge in firearms cases. The department's immediate focus is hotspot policing and curbing the proliferation of guns, with an emphasis on teenagers and young adults. Chief Jones is looking to obtain best/promising practices specific to task force operations and reducing juvenile gun violence.
