The DE SAKI Site has been discussing a statewide training for Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, and Victim Advocates on cold case sexual assault. They would like for it to be focused on MDT/SART relationships and cold case sexual assault investigations/prosecution.
DE needs to identify dates and locations so that SMEs can be selected and conference approval can be submitted.
During the 2018 Check-in Call, Paige asked Mike how finding a location for the event was going. Mike said he was going to start working on that next week. He also said that they were looking at May, but Paige told him that with the lead time for the conference approval, they needed to look later in the year.
Mike, Nani, and Paige had a call about the DE Statewide Training. Mike is waiting on the two possible venues that will match what he needs. He is looking at dates in the week of September 18th. After discussing his 'wants' for the event, we recommended that it be 2 days. He would like a mixture of lecture and table top/interactive activities for a multidisciplinary (LE, advocates, and prosecutors/support staff) audience. He is thinking it will be 150-175 attendees. To save on cost, we recommended he not get break-out rooms and instead arrange the seating to ensure they have the ability to plan/talk/role play at their table. After speaking about the ideal subject matter, Paige encouraged Mike to make the event 2 days (maybe end 3pm on the 2nd day), and she thought he should reach out to Maria Marcos about a presentation at the end on 'Trauma-Informed Self-Care'. She is speaking at their Statewide Victim Services Conference later in March. The other topics were trauma-informed investigation including interviewing and preparing for alcohol facilitated cases to go through prosecution. They want to work on how to build a case and victim engagement. Nani provided insight into the conference approval process and what Mike needs to do for the venue selection documentation. We expressed that the drop-dead date we need all of the info for is April 20th. Mike to work on getting the information needed for the venue selection documentation and in securing the venue for dates the week of Sept 18th. When he receives the example documents from Nani, he should do a first pass and send them to Paige.
Paige sent Mike the CCR form, CCR template, and a draft agenda. Review the documents and provide feedback on the agenda. For the CCR, Mike should fill them out to the best of his ability.
Mike called Paige to let her know that he had received the 2018 solicitation. During the call, Mike updated Paige on the Statewide Training. Mike had found a location in Dover, and the dates of the event are Sept 19 and 20th. Mike also provided feedback from the Victim Services Subcommittee about the timing on the agenda. Paige suggested that they shorten the event to accommodate folks driving from the coast. When Paige send the second version, she asked Mike the likelihood of their being able to find a survivor to speak. He said they weren't confident and thought maybe we could give that spot to the SANE Subcommittee. So, we edited that session. Paige and Mike finalized the Agenda. Paige to confirm everything with the SMEs and assist in the RTI Conference Reporting submission.
Mike to get his information into the DE CCR Submission and get it back to Nani.
Mike sent his CCR forms to Nani. Nani to review and discuss with Mike.
Paige to set up a conference call for them.
Nani and Mike held a call to go over the final details of the conference approval documents. Nani got the information she needed so that the documents could move towards submission.
Mike called Paige to give her an update to the person they were arranging to speak on Self-Care. The cost of the person is less than the estimate for conference approval. They also got a final firm contract with the event space, which he emailed to Paige to have in case there are any questions in the conference reporting process.
