Milestone Title
Program Evaluation Planning
Milestone Description

CJI learned from LA facility staff that a key concern for their department is ensuring their programming is implementing with fidelity. They have an evaluation process, but it is lengthy and time consuming, and they don’t have the staff availability to evaluate all programs consistence.

In December, CJI developed a plan to create a shorter fidelity process that could be done between full assessments (see attached), and reviewed this plan with facility programming staff while on site in December.

Milestone Title
DOC Fidelity
Milestone Description

On past visits, CJI heard from DOC institutional programming staff that they wanted to find a faster way to assess the fidelity of their current programming. In February, CJI created a plan to develop a tool that would help assess fidelity (see attached) and reviewed this plan with programming staff. In the coming months, CJI will work to create this tool by reviewing current research and best practices in program fidelity assessment.

In April, CJI obtained and reviewed a list of programming and curricula used in the institutions. These will be helpful as CJI develops a fidelity assessment tool, and will enable CJI to ensure the tool created is as useful for LA DOC as possible.
