Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance

In December, the Recidiviz team conducted a site visit to San Antonio and Temple, TX to gain feedback from parole officers regarding the technology tool, as well as learn how staff utilize supervision level downgrades, early discharges, and annual reporting to support their clients. The team shared their findings with TDCJ leadership and determined the next steps for the tool rollout.

Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees
In November, TDCJ reported that they successfully graduated 29 participants from cohort 5 on October 29 and 23 graduates from cohort 6 on November 7. TDCJ reported that since its implementation in April 2024, graduated 116 participants have successfully from the Anger Management on Parole program.

Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance
In November, the Recidiviz team continued to ingest TDCJ data and met with the TDCJ IT team to ask questions and confirm that they met TDCJ's cybersecurity requirements.
A TDCJ Parole District Director will act as a conduit between Recidiviz and Parole Officers who will serve as "trusted testers" for UXR when the tool pilot is launched.

In October, TDCJ reported they successfully filled the vacant Community Corrections Officer (CCO) position. The selected applicant began on October 1, 2024, and is currently shadowing the CCO facilitating cohorts five and 6 of the Anger Management on Parole program. . The new applicant will receive their caseload during the next cycle of programming offered.

In October, the Recidiviz team continued to ingest TDCJ data and met with the TDCJ IT team to ask questions and request additional data to fully support the Recidiviz tools.

The Recidiviz team also met with TDCJ's research director to hear his perspective on the project's progress.

In December, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, conduct calls for technical assistance (TA) requests, provide TA to select states, finalize and submit upcoming conference presentations for BJA review, present at the Second Chance Act (SCA) conference,continue to identify strategies for extending project work to reach a larger audience, brainstorm and develop topics and meeting strategy for virtual Peer Session #4, and further identify project next steps.

In September, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, conduct calls for technical assistance (TA) requests, provide TA to select states, conduct a presentation at the International Community Justice Association (ICJA) conference in Louisville, KY, conduct a webinar for the Community Supervision Resource Center (CSRC), develop and submit a proposal for the 2025 American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) Winter Conference, and further identify project next steps.
