Michigan State University, School of Criminal Justice (MSU) received the 2018 award for Category 1 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) provider. MSU will work with CNA (Category 2) and NCVC (Category 3) throughout the grant period to provide assistance to the national PSN program, BJA, OLP, EOUSA and any other entity requesting assistance implementing PSN strategies.

Maintenance and delivery of Child Sex Trafficking: A Training Series for Frontline Officers, an online training for law enforcement that was developed under a grant that ended in 2015. This project is continuing to offer the training to the BJA task forces and other law enforcement working on human trafficking.

The Erie County Human Trafficking Task Force identified a need for training and technical assistance surrounding the forensic interview process of child sex trafficking victims. Colleen Owens of John Jay College of Criminal Justice conducted research and reached out to the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) for resources. NCAC is developing two resources that could be beneficial to the Erie County Task Force.

The Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force was identified for proactive support planning for the upcoming pipeline construction in 2019. They intend to work with local law enforcement, hotels, and contractors to prevent the sex trafficking that can accompany man camps. IACP reached out to the Nebraska Task Force to do a TTA screening to gather more information and see how best to respond. In addition, IACP connected the Nebraska Task Force to the North Dakota Task Force who have experience with pipeline construction.

Hosted a labor trafficking pilot training debrief online meeting for trainers, observers, IACP staff, and BJA in November 2018, to obtain feedback and input on how best to move forward with enhancing the training curriculum

BJA referred this TA request to IACP-the Orange County human trafficking task force does not have a federal prosecution partner or HSI or FBI on board as part of their task force, something BJA strongly recommends. IaCP was tasked with finding out more on the causes and solutions to see if this task force can benefit from assistance with securing partnerships.
