The PRC's PREA Champions(capacity building) initiative will create a national peer network of professionals trained by PRC and with the skill and support to advance outreach and training to communities and facilities that have been underserved to date. A national training convening to build capacity in these emerging leaders will be more impactful and cost effective than a national conference, by ensuring those in attendance are committed, invested, and ready to implement follow-on action plans.
The intent of this solicitation is to provide funds for communications activities (dialogue, education, and mobilization) and resource development efforts of national or regional scope impacting sexual abuse in confinement and or the implementation and sustainability of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards. Funded deliverable types include convenings or sponsored collaboration, publications, or other outreach activities. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the funds are expended.
Steering committee members met to discuss the South Carolina and Georgia policy assessments, proactive communications/preventing rollbacks, future steering committee topics, innovative policies in Phase I states, and states that may join the initiative.
