Meeting with Janice Fries (Research Analytics and Planning Bureau Chief) from the Montana Department of Corrections where she showed us their current public data and we agreed to begin the onboarding process with population data.Â

o  Presented at the National Legal Aide and Defense Association conference to 15 Public Defenders across the country to introduce them to Justice Counts and encourage them to opt in.

Meeting with Montana Senator Ryan Lynch, a champion of Justice Counts, to provide an update and overview of the project’s progress in Indiana.

Recruitment meeting with Kirsten Pabst (Missoula County Attorney) and Brian West (Deputy County Attorney) from the Missoula County Attorney’s Office in Montana to present the initiative and encourage participation.Â

Recruitment meeting with Quinn Ziegler (Data Analyst) from the Missoula County Community Justice Department Data Center in Montana to learn more about his role in connection to the community and to the local criminal justice coordinating council.Â

Recruitment meeting with Brett Schandelson (State Public Defender) and Kyle Belcher (Operations Specialist) from the Montana Office of the Public Defender. They opted in and provided updates on their progress implementing HB-11 and identifying similarities between the bill and this initiative.

Justice Counts webinar with the National District Attorney’s Association to provide a project overview to members and encourage them to opt in.Â

Justice Counts presentation to the National Governor’s Association Criminal Justice Policy Advisory Network Briefing to provide a project overview.Â

Meeting with Delbert Longley (Chief Jail Inspector) from Iowa Department of Corrections to strategize Justice Counts approach to the Iowa Jail Committee.

Meeting with the Iowa Jail Committee to introduce Justice Counts and a demonstration of Publisher.
