USVI LEPC requested NCJA assistance in facilitating discussions with their stakeholders regarding the newly implemented USVI behavioral health act and criminal justice data sharing over the course of two days. Day 1 focused on SIM mapping and discussions of regarding risk factors, community responses and environmental designs related to the behavioral health act and criminal justice policy programming. I acted in a support role via note-taking for the the NCJA facilitators.

Site Visit and Training in Lake County, IL with implementers

The District of the US Virgin Islands requested assistance with their PSN strategy. From April 15-18, 2024 the CNA TTA team sent representatives to the USAO’s in the US Virgin Islands to complete a strategic planning session with PSN stakeholders, a crime analysis capacity assessment, a research partner working session, and an in-depth information session and PSN working session for the USAO, Natasha Baker.

Conducted organizational readiness assessments with site-based Grantees

NCJA is supporting the Center for Justice Innovation with a pilot program evaluation program with the Lincoln Police Department to evaluate a new position added to patrol, a team investigator. This position was added by the Chief approximately 6 months ago. As a first step, NCJA and CJI assisted the Lincoln Police Department with a survey that was sent out to patrol officers, analyzing the overall perception of the team investigator role.

NCJA is supporting the Center for Justice Innovation with a pilot program evaluation program with the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission. CJI will be designing an evaluation plan to study the Restructuring Area Dynamic and Relationships (RADAR) program currently being implemented by the Phoenix Police Department.

LISC Staff James Stark with subject matter expert Tom Wyatt provided training to site partners and Spartanburg PD Officers on place-based problem solving methods and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) during a half-day training. James and Tom also met with key partners in the leadership team to help guide them through expected BCJI planning activities and deliverables.
