During this reporting period, BJA leadership indicated that there was no pressing need to hold a PDMP grantee orientation webinar; however, PDMP TTAC team members continue to offer assistance in organizing the webinar pending BJA leadership’s decision to move forward.

The event serves as an opportunity for COSSUP grantees to further the goals of the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program to support effective local, state, and tribal responses to illicit substance use in order to reduce overdose deaths, promote public safety, and support access to treatment and recovery services in the criminal justice system.

The Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office (SCSO) RSAT program at Blaine Street Women’s Facility provides a gender-responsive substance use treatment and reentry program. The facility offers all three FDA approved medications for opioid use disorder as part of a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program. The program was designed to better address the needs of an increasing number of incarcerated women with serious, chronic substance use disorder (SUD), the high rate of SUD in Santa Cruz County, and the percentage of incarcerated women who have complex barriers to successful reentry.

On January 14, 2021, the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey announced the results of an investigation of the Cumberland County Jail. The investigation looked at potential violations of the Eighth and 14th Amendments of the Constitution due to failure to screen for or provide adequate treatment to individuals at risk of self-harm and suicide.

The first of the bi-annual RxCheck Governance Board meetings was held virtually on March 9, 2023. Thirty-three of the thirty-eight member PDMPs were in attendance, The agenda sessions at the meeting included:

The PDMP TTAC team hosts and facilitates monthly conference calls with the RxCheck Governance Board; the PMIX Standards Organization; the PMIX Operations, Technical, Standards Compliance Subcommittees; and ad hoc committees as needed to support the groups in accomplishing their goals. During this reporting period, the PDMP TTAC team hosted and facilitated 7 conference calls with the various PMIX groups.
