Annie Pineda - Director of Pro Bono for The Bronx Defenders spoke at a conference regarding law firms and their pro bono work. Annie panel piece was focused on how big law firms can assist non-profits who represent underserved populations achieve a more holistic practice.

Semester long class taught to selected law students regarding the different facets of holistic defense. The clinic is composed of a weekly seminar in a addition to field work assigned through The Bronx Defenders.

TTA recipients (public defender offices), chosen through a highly selective application process, receive twelve months of intensive, hands-on assistance focusing on those particular aspects of holistic defense identified by the recipient office. Integrating holistic defense into any public defender office is a transformative process and one that often happens incrementally. As such, we expect applicant offices to focus their requests for assistance either on a specific area or on those areas needing the most support and with the greatest potential for change.

Alaska Legal Services requested assistance on exploring civil remedies from misdemeanor offenses nationwide.

Provision of courses relevant to separation of powers training for court officials and tribal elected leaders.
Requesting to change this deliverable to develop and provide 1 session to be provided via distance learning forum for court officials and tribal elected leaders on topics relevant to separation of powers.

Provide series of sessions/ workshops on topics related to the elderly and juveniles (crimes against, civil protection, status and delinquency proceedings and rights of juveniles)

Provided TTA to an attorney of Australia Legal Aid in Sydney on all aspects of holistic defense. While Australia Legal Aid is primarily a Civil Legal Services organization there are many aspects to holistic defense that are applicable.

Panelist, Christa Douaihy, spoke about the intersection of criminal and civil law in this growing area of jurisprudence. Ms. Douaihy spoke of how to represent clients with HIV holistically in both court venues.
