January - June 2023: Assisted newly appointed Training Director in assessing training needs, developing year long training plan, organizing topics for agency brief bank, revising new lawyer bi-annual training agenda, help plan conference, will speak at conference in Helena, MT taking place Oct 10-12, 2023. 2023 New lawyer training took place in mid April, will be repeated in September. Meetings occur 2-3x/month.

January - June 2023: Application approved to assist newly appointed Mississippi Training Director with organizing bi-annual public defense training conference and speaking at training. Meetings every 2-3 weeks from beginning planning to published agenda (so about a month off). 2023 conference dates are April 27-29 and October 26-28. Will be travelling to the fall conference in Jackson MS to speak.

On November 19, Center staff hosted officials from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for a site visit at Brownsville Community Justice Center. Ms. Jo Dedeyne-Amann, Chief, Secretariat of the Governing Bodies of UNODC and Secretary of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice; Ms. Tiphanie Crittin, Drug Control and Crime Prevention Officer (liaison UNODC in NY); Ms. Georgia Dimitropoulou, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer (expert on youth crime prevention and child protection/juvenile justice); and Mr.

On October 5, Center staff hosted federal officials from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for a site visit at Brownsville Community Justice Center. Karhlton Moore, Director of BJA; Courtney Stewart, Program Specialist; and Gregory Torain, Program Specialist were in attendance. The site visit included discussions that explored the history and evolution of Brownsville Community Justice Center and identified new trends in community-led justice including issues of economic justice, health justice and climate justice.

On December 15, Center staff organized and hosted an in-person site visit to Red Hook Community Justice Center (RHCJC) for Gregg Bishop, Executive Director of the Tsai Foundation. The site visit included meeting a site tour, discussions, and overviews of the Center.

On November 21, Center staff organized and hosted a representative of Restorative Justice Group. At the site visit, attendees learned about Red Hook Community Justice Center's peacemaking program.

On December 6, Center staff hosted an in-person site visit for Alyssa Figueras, Assistant Vice President, Funding Agreements of the New York City Economic Development Corporation. The visit included an overview of the history and evolution of Midtown Community Court, the court's approach to early diversion, and its community programs. The site visit also included a tour of the facility, an opportunity to observe court, and a conversation with Judge John Zhou Wang.
