Tennessee's legislative session began on January 14th, 2020. CJI staff provided support to Senior Policy Advisor, Brandon Gibson, and the Governor's Office in their efforts to educate the legislature about the forthcoming Criminal Justice Investment Task Force (CJITF) JRI bill language. CJI staff met with members of the House Judiciary Committee and other members of the legislature to educate them about the Justice Reinvestment Process in Tennessee, the key data findings, and the CJITF recommendations.

On January 22, 2020, CJI staff traveled to Nashville to deliver a presentation to the House Judiciary Committee which highlighted the main findings and key data points from the October presentation. During the presentation, CJI staff tool questions from multiple Judiciary Committee members. CJI staff traveled to Nashville again the week of February 3rd to meet with legislators from the Judiciary Committee to follow-up with answers to their repective questions and inform them of the teams' willingness to be a resource for them throughout this process.

The Baltimore PD identified an opportunity to provide standardized guidance to its personnel on case management and review, crime guns, and crime scene management. In response to TTA requests from the Baltimore PD for assistance in developing trainings on these priority areas, IIR, with approval from BJA and in close consultation with the Baltimore PD, developed virtual trainings that leverage an interactive training platform to allow the department to educate a large number of personnel based on workload and schedule requirements.

In response to TTA team's request for information on COVID-related delays, Omaha reported no delays but the slight possibility of an eventual switch to COVID response for the state laboratory.

A review of all existing program documents will transpire to include VTC procedure manuals, participant handbook, mentor manual, BeST Assessment (as applicable), Hopes and Concerns assessment tool, and relevant past/present grant information. A discussion of all documentation with the designated Justice for Vets (JFV) staff member (JFV Leader) in advance of formal involvement with the VTC team members will occur.
