On 3/8/2024 TLPI held their Virtual Kick Off Meeting for FY 23 CTAS PA 3 Grantees. Ruben Ortiz, from the Lovelock Paiute Tribe, joined the virtual meeting via zoom. TLPI presented on the Tribal Courts, Tribal Justice System, and Intergovernmental Collaboration Projection, the broad range of TLPI resources, publications, webinars, and various TTA projects. TLPI also discussed how to request TTA, the TTA TLPI process (which consists of TA Coach assignments, the development of a TA workplan, and a final TA report.

The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI), along with our training and technical assistance partners- the Tribal Judicial Institute (TJI), and National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA) want to extend a warm heartfelt handshake!

We are currently following up on the previous welcome letters and requests to schedule a virtual New Grantee Meeting, as we had not received a response, we wanted to make sure we were contacting the appropriate person(s) for the award.

The Advisory Council was on hold for the duration of the reporting period due to the completion of their role in providing feedback to the RNR Tool draft. Center staff will convene the Advisory Council again next year to discuss the results of the research from the piloting process and to solicit final feedback and suggestions for rolling out the tool once it has received final approval from BJA.

In January, TLPI sent them an initial welcome letter that included a poll to schedule a virtual kick off meeting, provided a questionnaire to identify T/TA priorities, and provided information on the upcoming CTAS Orientation and Emerging Issues Conference.

Four FY23 CTAS PA 3 Grantees attended this virtual meeting via zoom on 01-23-24.
The TLPI Team walked through overview of TLPI, the TLPI program, introduced the Tribal Courts team, the TTA process, and how to request TTA, gave an overview of recent publications, the TAJI website and other pertinent information. We also shared Tribal TTA partners and contact information.
