The Safer Schools Community of Practice is designed with the purpose of bringing together school safety practitioners for collaborative discussions to identify best practices and model polices, support problem solving, and recognize emerging trends related to school safety strategies and policies. The insights gathered in this forum will be utilized to guide the program's comprehensive technical assistance, subject-expert working groups, resource development, and training deliverables.

IIR received approval from BJA program staff to host two in-person Safer Schools Roundtables (previously referred to as Safe Place Roundtables), one with school staff and administrators and another with subject-matter researchers. The overall goal of these Roundtables is to gather essential input toward the development of resources that promote collaboration with law enforcement SRO programs to improve school safety while avoiding unnecessary student contact with the criminal justice system.

The Alaska SAA's office invited the CJP SCIP-focused program managers to join the newly formed Byrne SCIP Advisory Board to support them as they figure out their SCIP funding priorities. We attended a pre-meeting planning meeting, facilitated the planning session with the full Advisory Board, then held a debrief meeting. AK was able to sort through various priorities and identified several goals and priorities for their funding in our presences and continues to move forward.
