The shooting at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, marked a unique flashpoint of change rarely seen in police response. 2024 This year, 2024, marks 25 years since the tragedy, and many of the lessons learned have been applied to mass violence events since. In this workshop, consultant and police psychologist Dr. John Nicoletti, who responded to the scene and supported recovery efforts, will be joined by the principal of Columbine High School at the time of the tragedy and a member of the SWAT team that made entry to the school.

The meeting with the invited agencies at the 2024 Officer Safety and Wellness Conference was very successful but not long enough for the amount of insight the agencies had to share; we therefore planned and facilitated a virtual follow up session with the same group of participants.
