Operational Support

The Urban Institute serves as the main point of contact for the Justice Reinvestment Initiative for potential sites. In that role, Urban monitors a JRI email address, through which it fields questions from potential JRI sites. Urban also responds to media inquiries and general questions from academics and practitioners about JRI.

Center staff will coordinate with the State of Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and Utah Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to develop and enhance drug courts statewide pursuant to their FY 2020 BJA-funded grant. This work will include teleconference calls, emails, virtual meetings and possible on-site visits.

Center staff will coordinate with the Michigan Supreme Court State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) to develop and enhance drug courts statewide pursuant to their FY 2020 BJA-funded grant. This work will include teleconference calls, emails, virtual meetings and possible on-site visits.

Center staff will coordinate with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BASAS) to develop and enhance drug courts statewide pursuant to their FY 2020 BJA-funded grant. In Delaware, Center staff Kelly Van Develde and Karen Otis continued to provide support as the state worked to develop the training curriculum for this year’s statewide treatment court conference, which occurred on May 22-23, 2023, in Wilmington, Delaware. This was Delaware’s first annual treatment court conference as the state has routinely attended Maryland’s conference.

In California, Center staff Monica Christofferson, Alejandra Garcia, and Jarred Williams continued to work with representatives of the California Association of Collaborative Courts (CACC), Francine Byrne and Carrie Zoller, to assist the state’s efforts to develop and enhance state-based coordination, services, evaluation, and training.

Center staff will coordinate with the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts, Adult Probabtion Services Division (ASPD) to develop and enhance drug courts statewide pursuant to their FY 2020 BJA-funded grant.
