Transition OJD Project from CJI to NCSC
Meet with CJI and OJD staff to orient NCSC staff to the statewide treatment court project.
Objective 6: Identify key drug court strategies for responding to the national opioid crisis
The Center will continue to work with states to identify promising and evidence-based strategies for responding to the opioid epidemic, including specialized screening and assessment practices, methods for reducing the time between entering a drug court and beginning treatment, enhanced supervision strategies, and specialized opiate use disorder dockets. Promising and evidence-based strategies will be disseminated to the field through quarterly meetings, webinars, and/or publications.
Use SRCs to support NRRC Helpline requests
As the Helpline is a vital component of the NRRC (see Task 1.3), the NRRC must provide the complete and most up-to-date information and resources to those requesting assistance. The SRCs have “on the ground” knowledge of services and resources within their states, counties, and communities, making them a tremendous asset to those reaching out to the Helpline.
Engage SRCs to identify reentry resource gaps and implementation challenges
Working from the comprehensive database the NRRC is currently developing, the NRRC will elicit information regularly from the SRCs to help the center, BJA, and OJJDP identify resource gaps and implementation challenges with the reentry field. Methods to elicit this information could include semiannual surveys to gain broad knowledge of gaps and challenges coupled with follow-up interviews or focus groups to dive deeper into survey results.
Coordinate with SRCs to disseminate reentry information and resources
To ensure that the NRRC website and clearinghouses provide the most up-to-date research and practice-based evidence and resources, the NRRC is in the process of assembling a network of SRCs (Year 2 activity). The NRRC will build this network upon a comprehensive database of SRCs that will include their state, regional, or local affiliation; the organizational structure within which they work (e.g., department of corrections, state/county council); and their complete contact information.
Provide TA
By request of academies and training units, provide technical assistance to support enhanced constitutional policing training. This will include developing model curriculum and instructor guides.
Develop Outreach Strategy
Develop a plan to promote available TA to academies and training units.
Share Recommendations Report
Share the recommendations report through the Knwoledge Lab and other platforms to maximize reach of recommnedations into the training field.
