The VPD realizes the benefits that can come from a properly trained staff who can incorporate trauma-informed systems methodologies into to their response to calls for service. As such we would ask the NTTAC to assist us in developing a Trauma-Informed Systems curriculum to deliver to our staff. We would hope to make such a curriculum comprehensive enough to attain California POST certification.

Jamestown Staffing requested information regarding how they could assist with reentry efforts in their community. BJA NTTAC shared relevant resources and referred the requestor to the National Institute of Corrections and to the Montgomery County Office of Reentry.

The University of New Orleans Police Department requested funding for registration for the International Association of Crime Analysts online training courses. BJA NTTAC provided funding support for one representative to attend the IACA online training course starting in July 2021 and ending in September 2021.

The Office of the Commonwealth Attorney (OCA) requested review and assessment of its pretrial policies, practices, and data to identify strategies for implementing evidence-based and data-driven policies and practices that prioritize fairness, racial equity, and public safety. Pretrial Justice Institute (PJI) was selected to fulfill the request and provided a review and assessment of the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s policies and practices to provide recommendations for implementing evidence-based policies and practices.

This technical assistance will help with the classification and prioritization of high-risk violent offenders. It will allow SCDPPPS to focus its limited resources on those most likely to reoffend, which will increase the safety of domestic violence victims and the community. One objective for this technical assistance is to have a subject matter expert provide assistance with finalizing the DVSA, including determining if the most appropriate metrics are measured and scored appropriately.
