Four SLATT seminar proposals were provided to the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for consideration as BJA submissions to the IACP Conference 2025, October 18–21, in Denver, Colorado, as follows: “Generative Artificial Intelligence in Law Enforcement: A Revolutionary Tool Fraught with Complex Challenges,” “Nefarious Uses of Emerging Technologies: Relationship between Bad Actors and Technology Adoption,” “A Framework for Evaluating Risks Posed by New Technologies in a Dynamic Threat Environment,” and “Trust-Driven Leadership: A Framework for Establishing Effective Policing and Threat Ass

During the month of January 2025, the SLATT Program team addressed one ad hoc task in support of BJA, as follows:
• On January 24, 2025, the SLATT team provided the BJA policy director and senior policy advisor with additional information related to one of the SLATT seminar proposals provided to BJA for consideration as a BJA submission to the IACP Conference 2025. Specifically, additional information was provided regarding specific technologies discussed in the seminar titled, “A Framework for Evaluating Risks Posed by New Technologies in a Dynamic Threat Environment.”

Develop a series of educational resources for law enforcement agencies, designed to facilitate understanding of and support for CVI strategies, including recommended strategies for fostering honest conversations within departments on issues of concerns and skepticism about CVI strategies and CVI outreach workers. Develop content for the CVIPI website and resources and tools for law enforcement training programs.

In response to concerns and challenges that face the correctional workforce across the nation, the American Correctional Association (ACA) has taken actions to improve the health and wellness of the workforce in correctional settings. In 2015, the ACA formed the Staff Wellness Committee with numerous charges but a simple theme: get the word out that the workforce crisis provides for a much-needed opportunity.

During the month of December 2024, the SLATT Program team addressed three ad hoc tasks in support of BJA, as follows:
• On December 2, 2024, information regarding SLATT’s enhanced terrorism and targeted violence training curriculum, and collaboration with program partner START on emerging technologies, were provided to the senior policy advisor in support of the Department of Justice’s strategic plan.

Seminar proposals were submitted for consideration at two upcoming national conferences that will be hosted in Washington, DC, including the National Sheriff’s Association Winter Conference on February 1–5, 2025, and the NFCA Annual Training Event on April 22–25.

During the month of October 2024, the SLATT Program team supported one ad hoc task. In support of a request from the BJA senior policy advisor, the SLATT Program team developed a white paper detailing SLATT training and technical assistance support provided to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in furtherance of the 2024 national conventions. Specifically, between February and June 2024, SLATT team members and SMEs delivered three in-person trainings, two in-person technical assistances, and developed and made available a new online eLearning course.

During the month of September 2024, the SLATT Program team supported one ad hoc task. Specifically, a white paper containing information related to SLATT training that may support agency efforts to enhance violence prevention efforts was developed and provided to the BJA senior policy advisor in support of the ongoing Government Accountability Office review of the National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism.
