Join the National White Collar Crime Center for their webinar “Of Eggplants and Umbrellas: The Legal and Investigative Implications of Emojis” on March 25, 2020 at 2:00–3:30 p.m. ET. Cyber-crime attorneys and a former prosecutor will focus on how to analyze emojis in investigating child exploitation cases and how emojis are perceived legally.
NW3C staff attended the 2017 American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting. While there, NW3C assisted with facilitating a meeting of the Division on White-Collar and Corporate Crime (formerly the White Collar Crime Research Consortium and now an official division within the American Society of Criminology). NW3C also conducted a presentation on data breaches and the effect on state and local governments.
NW3C conducted a student focus group on the campus of Fairmont State University. The goal of the focus group was to discuss current and emerging technologies (e.g., cellphone apps, gaming systems, social media, etc.) that are being used by young adults. The information gathered is used to inform various research projects and publications, including law enforcement alerts.
