On November 14, 2017, the Idaho SAA reached out to the NCJA Director of Government Affairs to discuss local needs. The NCJA Program Manager followed up the next day to provide information about the TTA program and services we provide to help states meet the strategic planning requirements under the new Byrne JAG solicitation. The discussion focused on the state's needs and ways in which the TTA program can support the SAA's efforts to develop a comprehensive plan.

On November 15, 2017, the NCJA Program Analyst conducted an interview with the Florida SAA as part of its biennial study of Byrne JAG investments (see related deliverable in the NTTAC report). SAAs were informed in these interviews about services provided to state criminal justice agencies under this program, as well as instructions for submitting a request for TTA to NCJA staff. The Florida SAA emailed the NCJA Project Manager the following day to request TTA.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), the state's SAA, initially contacted the NCJA Program Manager on October 25, 2017 to request information about training and technical assistance available under the Strategic Planning TTA Project. The Project Manager followed up the following day to discuss current planning efforts and needs for navigating the strategic planning process. The SAA indicated an interest in a new approaching to plan development and to gather more information in-person.
