This webinar will explore the overlaps in substance use disorder and suicide in correctional settings. It will look at recent trends in suicide deaths in both jails and prisons and how they may be tied to substance use disorder. Dr. Andrew Klein will present case studies of suicide prevention efforts in both jails and prisons through substance use disorder treatment. Douglas County has seen an increase in the female jail population and they have pegged this to addiction and mental health issues. The county requests help in planning a post- arraignment program for women charged with felonies and misdemeanors.
