Objective 4: Facilitate states’ adoption of standards and guidelines on data-driven decision-making.
8/10 Call with Jeff Locke (Senior Policy Advisor) and Dr. Heather Tubman-Carbone (Associate Deputy Director) from BJA to discuss upcoming conference presentations, overall scoreboard development, and the upcoming metrics discussion with BJA.

Penetration testing by the US DOJ in anticipation of possible federal use of the NDI fulfilled a task complimentary to the maintenance of the NDI, and informative to the RFP process. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) Justice Management Division (JMD) engaged Synack, Inc. to perform a penetration test for their applications. The testing was performed on specific data structures and data management functions of the NDI, between June 08, 2023 - June 18, 2023.

11/13/23: Met with Leo Hobbs (Owner and Founder, New Beginnings Education and Counseling Center, Inc.) and Ruben Pavlov (Criminal Justice Professor, University of Louisville) to interview them about the landscape of BIP in Louisville. Â

11/14/23: Focus group with Kim Bush (Probation & Parole District 5, officer), Angela Cooms (Probation & Parole District 5, officer), Paul Smith (Probation & Parole District 5, officer) in Elizabethtown, KY to discuss how DV and IPV effects their parole pre-sentencing investigation reporting.Â

11/14/23: Focus group with Michael Caudill (Probation & Parole Eastern Region, Regional Manager); Michelle Blakeman (Probation & Parole District 9, Assistant Supervisor) in Lexington, KY to discuss how IPV and DV impact their work.Â

11/14/23: Focus group with Kevin Casey (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Lauren Jordan (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Brittany Brown (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Jessical Veil (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Lauren Morgan (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Brandon Summers (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer), Laiden Hutcheson (Probation and Parole District 9, Officer) in Lexington, KY to discuss how IPV and DV impact their work. Â

Oct. 2: Call with Kelley Eichler (Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor) to touch base about the status of the project, fortify the governor’s office’s support, and strategize about how to best engage with different stakeholders within the state. CSG Justice Center staff met with Kelly Eichler (Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor) to provide updates on the project and obtain her insight and suggestions on how to proceed. (1 person representing 1 agency)

CSG Justice Center staff met with Joe Profiri (Arkansas Department of Corrections Secretary and Task Force Member), Lindsay Wallace (Chief of Staff to the Secretary), and Chad Brown (Chief Financial Officer) to learn more aboutSecretary Profiri’s general plan for the correctional system and his goals forthe agency to obtain agency buy-in.
