Season of Peace December 2021 Conference. The session in December also focused on the nuts and bolts of how to create a Season of Peace in partner communities. Reverend Brown and experienced practitioners discussed three areas for starting and maintaining a Season of Peace Campaign: Night Walks - initiating and continuing presence, Navigating the Prisons, and Engaging the Whole Community.

Season of Peace October 2021 Conference. This initial session included an insightful discussion with youth from across the country sharing their experiences with the justice system, violence in their communities and the work they are doing to reduce the violence. The COVID 19 pandemic brought a host of challenges for clients, peer support professionals, and providers at a time when many faced their most vulnerable moments in social isolation.  This affinity group provided an opportunity for participants to identify best practices and lessons learned for providing PRSS during the pandemic.  The third session was called "Moving Forward: Hybrid Approaches to PRSS in a post-COVID era." CJI staff supported the Criminal Justice Reinvestment Working Group (CJRWG) in hosting two roundtable discussions with Nebraskans who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system, as well as those who provide care or services to directly impacted persons. The first discussion took place at the Heartland Workforce Solutions Center in Omaha, and the second took place virtually over Zoom.

This virtual convening, hosted by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) through COSSAP, will focus on tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time: putting an end to America’s opioid, stimulant, and substance misuse. The virtual setting will offer the feel of an in-person event, allowing participants to connect directly with colleagues to hear from federal experts, discuss relevant issues and trends, share ideas, exchange resources, and gain new skills to improve programs.

12.7.21 Grantee reached out during Quarterly grantee call asking for resources surrounding legal issues around fentanyl test strips. CHJ connected grantee with colleagues at the Legislative Analysis and Public Policy Association for guidance.
