Minnesota DOC is hosting training for the 20+ community-based advocacy programs (approximately 50 advocates) that are contracted to provide PREA advocacy support to our facility. JDI will provide JDI will provide a two-hour, in-person training for 40-50 victim advocates.

NC IAFN would like the training to cover issues such as: PREA standards, including a brief history and a focus on standard 115.21; consent, who hold the privilege to consent, how to obtain informed consent; particular concerns for incarcerated survivors, including safety and security issues like handcuffs, shackles, and privacy; concerns related to being asked to complete an exam on an alleged perpetrator. The training will also include time for questions and discussion.

Provide a 90-minute presentation covering transgender and non-binary juveniles, including specific coverage of the PREA standard 115.342 for the PREA Coordinator Conference in Buffalo, NY, July 23-25 2024.

Held meeting with grantee on 10/23/2024. During the meeting we reviewed their program, beginning with launch in 2017 up to the current status and needs. Discussed how Oregon Measure 110 which decriminalizes drugs has had an impact on programming and the ways in which evaluations need to be done with these considerations. Program evaluation will help them identify whether to continue offering the program or whether major changes need to be made to better serve their populations.
