On Thursday July 20, 2023, BJA and the CSG Justice Center convened a National Forecasting Group Meeting on the how courts are leading change at the intersection of behavioral health and criminal justice. The meeting set out to achieve the following goals:
Develop a nuanced picture of the types of court-focused projects and TTA JMHCP has supported, including the strategic value of the JMHCP investment and common challenges these projects have faced
In the final session of this community of practice, participants came to understand the importance of sharing evaluation results with key stakeholders and how to share those evaluation results to support program sustainability. Participants also learned how to tailor evaluation results to specific audiences by sharing key findings, executive summaries and short briefs highlighting relevant data.
Justice Counts presentation to Miami County JRAC to gain approval for Justice Counts implementation; audience included representation from 7 agencies representing all the sectors of Justice Counts in addition to behavioral health, county executive, and county fiscal representatives.Â
Justice Counts presentation at the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies Annual Conference. CSG Justice Center staff provided a project overview and encouraged agencies to opt-in.
CHJ connected with the Benedict Center through a COSSUP grantee convening in Milwaukee. The Benedict Center requested TA on prearrest diversion and deflection for people who are doing street-based sex work. CHJ met with the Benedict Center to discuss their work, the challenges they are encountering, and the role of deflection.
Objective 4: Provide structured, ongoing support up to Category 1 grantee states and support the field.

Objective 2: Continuously review the metrics, technology, solution for states, and related resources and make updates as needed.

Objective 1: Use the hub and spoke model to engage all necessary and appropriate subject matter expertise to support Justice Counts design and implementation.

8/30 Call with Shelby Davis (Associate Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives) from Measures for Justice to discuss the Tier 2 metrics process.
