State would like recommendations for hiring and retaining peers. There are challenges with locating them and retaining them for programs.

State would like ideas and examples of how other states absorbed positions, sought other grants, etc. to keep programs going

State requested support addressing marketing the program, generating law enforcement referrals, and getting buy in from state department

State would like recommendations for how to locate detox placements. Currently, shortage of placements is impacting participants.

Met with new grant manager to discuss the management side of the COSSUP grant. There has been a disconnect between the health department, police department, and school-based portion of the project. Staff turnover has been the cause of the disconnect. Development of a communication plan across project teams may be beneficial. Team will follow-up in about a month to allow time for new grant manager to get acclimated and identify next steps.

November CoP held on 11/19/24 at 2 PM ET. Topic was a brainstorm discussion on hiring and retention amongst grantees. Major discussion points included rural hiring, difficulty hiring for short-term grants/projects, lack of qualified applicants.
