The agency and the Chief are fully on board with PREA implementation and the Lieutenant in charge has been engaged. The Chief and the TA provider have completed the PREA policy and screening tool; screenings have been in place for about five months now. Escambia has a new facility staffing plan that has been completed which includes PREA requirements. They do have to do their annual staffing plan meeting and the Chief discussed inviting the TMG coach or the TA provider to call in and assist them with the first one to make sure it includes everything and is documented properly.

TMG coaches reported that thus far the primary activities for Broward County include a kick-off meeting scheduled during the next reporting period to review the implementation plan template and timeline. Subsequent to that meeting a timeline for development and delivery of the implementation plan template is to be executed.

The site is experienced in managing BJA grants. They are well on their way to accomplish the goals set out in the original proposal. They have accomplished the milestone of drafting a RFP for a consultant team to assist in staffing analyses at their facilities. They have used coaching assistance well and we have set up monthly calls to discuss progress and problem solve.

A call was held via video conference in December between the JDI coaches and the TDCJ team. This call was used as an introduction of all coaches and team members, and allowed the coaches to explain the implementation guide, time task plan, and the scope of their role. During this reporting period, the coaches initiated contact with The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) via email and conducted an introductory video call to define their role, and PRC?'s expectations for the implementation plan.

During this reporting period, officials from the City of Richmond had their project kick-off call with their JDI coaches. The meeting took place on December 11, 2020 and was attended by six members of their team including PREA officials, the grants manager, the policy manager, and the budget manager. The site provided an overview of the agency?'s operations and current PREA-related needs, and learned about the coaches?' role and the implementation guide process.

During this reporting period, officials from the Puerto Rico Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DCR) had their project kick-off call with their JDI coaches. The meeting took place on December 10, 2020 and was attended by the PREA Coordinator and the Director of Federal Affairs. The site provided an overview of the agency?'s operations and current PREA-related needs, and learned about the coaches?' role and the implementation guide process.

During this reporting period the coaches initiated contact with The Carroll County Department of Corrections and began discussing the implementation guide. Initially the coaches had some difficulty determining the point of contact for Carroll County. As of December 18, a team has been created to plan and implement this grant. This team consists of a contracted consultant and high-level staff from the agency, including: a Lieutenant, a Major, a Case Manager, and the Superintendent.

During this reporting period, the coaches initiated contact with The New Hampshire Department of Corrections (NHDOC) and began discussing the implementation guide. Dennis Fitton has been identified as the main point of contact for this grant. Mr. Fitton fills several different roles for NHDOC, which initially created concern among the coaches that he would not have sufficient time or authority to oversee the grant successfully. However, Mr. Fitton was able to procure a memo that granted him the authority to create a team, call meetings, and delegate tasks in support of the project goals.

CSG Justice Center staff hosted an orientation webinar for the new Purpose Area 1 JMHCP grantees. The webinar was held on December 15, 2020 to inform the grantee cohort about the purpose area requirements. Additionally, a current grantee, Miami-Dade County presented about their experience as a grant recipient and working with the CSG Justice Center.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a virtual site visit with the grant team and other stakeholders. The focus of the virtual site visit was to learn more about the RFP for a one-stop-shop for crisis services of which will include the grant funded program. Discussion focused on law enforcement drop-off for the to-be-determined crisis services location and data collection.
