Coaching focused on strategies that will impact the timely implementation of the PREA plan, specifically staff engagement/facility leadership were discussed during Q3 meetings.
Assisted with facility camera purchasing and placement strategy and agency-level leadership PREA education.
Coaching discussions centered on upcoming PREA Audit and challenges that are impacting timely implementation of the PREA plan such as staff shortages and facility buy-in.
Assisted with policy/SOP and training development, leadership training development, and culture assessment.
In Q3 Coaches reviewed the implementation plan and supplemental materials for submission and offered additional coaching sessions to support the new PC. These sessions will begin in November.
TMG coach conducted on-site activities on December 13-15, 2022 to assess the facility's readiness for a PREA audit.
The coaches continued to provide edits to staff trainings, policies and forms that LACPD developed during this reporting period. The LA Probation PREA team has been fully engaged with the coaches.
The coaches have checked in with the grantee at least once a month via video call and they have communicated via e-mail regarding developed materials for the coaches to review.
During this reporting period, King County was fully engaged with the coaches. The coaches have continued to assist King County with their development of youth education and sustainability plan.

Provided grantees with PREA implementation assistance and curriculum development. Also consulted on training material feedback.
In this program, Training & Technical Assistance is provided by partner coaches with The Moss Group, Just Detention International, and Activating Change. Employees of the partner agencies act as coaches to facilities and agencies who have received BJA grants in FY 19, FY 20, FY 21, and FY 22 for Implementing the PREA standards, protecting inmates, and safeguarding communities. Coaches provide guidance on developing an implementation guide for the use of awarded funds, budget approval, and technical assistance related to the PREA standards and their implementation.
