Testing

The RSAT programs at the Florence McClure Women’s Correctional, STARS (Sisters Together Achieving Recovery and Sobriety) and New Light, are two of five therapeutic community RSAT programs offered within the Nevada Department of Corrections. STARS and New Light are co-located in House 9 of the facility, constituting a specialized 120-bed intensive residential substance use disorder (SUD) program.

IIR reached out to Brad about making a connection with Milwaukee who is implementing a rapid drug testing surveillance program. They are aware of our work with Marion county and would like to coordinate a time to connect and walk us through their questions.

Site is really working to find a new partner or really drum up effort with their second partner who has had major staffing issues. Need to find a partner who can test in house. Suggested to site to meet with the governor to get their support for funding positions. Already have legislative support so can really build off that. RTI: maybe see if there are other sites with similar COSSUP programs? Who do they have as partners? TTA coach was able to connect site with Clare Schmidt from Remedy Alliance/Drug Checking For The People. Update will be provided at next check in November.

Met with site to discuss final elements of project. TTA collaborative link was shared if they have any TTA needs beyond their COSSUP funding. POC shared helpful insights to the PMT practices they started during their project.

Co-hosted the National Criminal Justice Association Forum on Criminal Justice for any affiliated justice-related personnel and staff from all states and territories. RSAT TTA staff planned and held the following sessions:

Call held 4/29, project elements are wrapping up. Overall TTA for future sites, could use more grant writing support.

Reaching out to DC for Q1 check in call to introduce new COSSUP elements (TA coaches,SLE team strucutre). Will also be discussing the needs assessment that will be implemented for each grant. Met with Dr. Tolliver 3/7. Discussed activities to date, including turn around time for lab tests is at 98% for a 90-day return period. NMS labs has been helpful to meet this timing. New LIMS is up and running officially. Site is reaching out to BJA to clarify costs and spend down ideas for grant money that was initially meant for staff positions (which were not hired).
