On 9/13/17, the UT team held External Stakeholders WebEx meeting with UDOC leadership -- including Executive Director Rollin Cook, and Director of Prison Operations, Jerry Pope -- along with representatives from Utah's ACLU and Disability Law Center. As traditional adversaries that now find themselves working together for a common good—to effect prison reform through implementing safe alternatives to segregation—the goal of this initial informational meeting is for Vera staff to better understand the evolution of these unique alliances in Utah, and how other corrections systems can develop and expand similar collaborative partnerships with their own local advocacy groups and other external stakeholders. 9/22, the UT team hosted check-in call with UDOC Site lead, Jerry Pope to get clarification on policy and practice documentation we recently received, along with additional clarification on several issues related to the data UDOC provided.
