The Oklahoma Department of Corrections requested mental and behavioral health training for correctional officers in two facilities. BJA NTTAC will evaluate providers to fulfill this in OY1.
Oklahoma DOC is experiencing a severe staffing shortage that has a detrimental impact on correctional officer, line staff, and justice-involved individuals’ safety and wellness. This shortage and limited training opportunities lead to higher levels of violence within our facilities. Our staff is not fully equipped to manage a population that has high levels of behavioral health issues and mental illness.
