We would like to request Problem-Oriented Policing training focusing on the role of crime analysts. The PPB received a similar training several years ago as part of TTA provided by NTTAC.

Description of the Problem

The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training along with the Portland Police Bureau, Portland State University and the Oregon Chief's of Police host an annual Problem-Oriented Policing Conference specific to the State of Oregon. The last two years we have had feedback requesting additional crime analysis focused trainings. It is difficult to provide more than a class or two as crime analysis is still developing in Oregon.

Julie Wartell would be our preferred provider. She provided a training to the PPB's crime analysts, crime prevention coordinators and Neighborhood Response Team officers which would be ideal for the audience at the conference.

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
It will help provided more specific training for the crime analysts attending the conference. Feedback from previous conferences has requested more specific trainings for crime analysts and this will help fill the gap.
