Vera provided TTA to the Nevada DOC (NDOC) in the following ways:
5/3 – Vera exchanged emails with NDOC about preparations for our site visit and our request to speak with the wardens of the facilities we planned to visit ahead of time.
5/4 – Vera held a phone meeting with our two site leads to plan for the upcoming site visit. We discussed logistics, proposed agendas, and other important details.
5/9 – Vera held two phone call meetings with the wardens and staff at each of the two facilities we planned to visit. We introduced ourselves and the project, heard from the wardens about their facilities, discussed logistics, and reviewed the draft agendas for the day.
5/11 – Vera exchanged emails regarding final preparations for our site visit (logistics, meeting agendas, etc.).
5/15–5/19 – First Site Visit – Vera attended and observed a regularly-scheduled Nevada Board of Prison Commissioners meeting (at which we briefly explained the project and our planned work in Nevada), convened the first meeting of the department's Segregation Reduction Committee, and conducted day-long visits (including meetings with staff and facility tours) at Northern Nevada Correctional Center and Lovelock Correctional Center.
