Vera provided implementation TTA to the Utah DOC in the following ways:
January -
Vera held its first introductory phone call with Utah DOC (UDC) leadership including DOC lead Jerry Pope. The purpose of call was to provide an overview of the project, review the project timeline, and to schedule and go over preparation details for initial project site visit including kickoff meeting and facility visits.
February -
Vera held a kickoff meeting with UDC leadership and the Segregation Reduction Committee, followed by facility visit meeting with warden and select staff of the Utah State Prison (USP). Vera ended the site visit with tour of USP where Vera staff were able to speak directly with various incarcerated people and staff and visit specific prison facilities including restrictive housing unit.
March -
Vera prepared for upcoming site visit #2 to visit Central Utah Correctional Facility (CUCF) and to conduct focus groups with select UDC staff and incarcerated individuals. Vera held a phone call to discuss with UDC leadership an overview of the focus group process including timeline and logistics for conducting interviews and a preliminary discussion about what the interim report would consist of.
April -
Vera conducted site visit #2 which included a facility visit meeting with the warden of CUCF and select staff. A total of eight focus groups were also conducted by Vera with staff and incarcerated individuals from CUCF and USP respectively.

By submitting this application to BJA NTTAC, I understand that upon approval of this application for TTA, the requestor agrees to keep BJA NTTAC informed of any circumstances that may impact the delivery of the TTA, including changes in the date of the event, event cancellation, or difficulties communicating with the assigned TTA provider.
