The training helps prosecutors plan, implement, and evaluate new prosecutor-led diversion options. Funded under the Second Chance Act, the program seeks to encourage and provide assistance to prosecutors who are building the next generation of diversion programming: programs that serve individuals who are jail or prison bound and who frequently suffer from mental illness or drug dependency issues.

July 7- Mr. Hood and Ms. Tehrani participated in a conference call with Tara Kunkel of BJA and Aaron Arnold, Danielle Malangone, and Annie Schachar of CCI to discuss the Prosecutor-Led Diversion Toolkit and the location and dates for the Diversion Regional Training.
October 13- Mr. Hood participated in a conference call with Aaron Arnold of CCI to discuss Prosecutor-Led regional training.
October 27- Mr. Hood participated in a conference call with Mark Kammerer of Cook County, Jeffrey Altenburg of Milwaukee County, Annie Schachar of CCI to discuss panel presentations for regional training in Phoenix, Arizona.
November 7- Mr. Hood participated in a conference call with Heather Perez of Michigan State University and Jessica Herbert of OJP Diagnostics Center to discuss Drug Market Initiatives and deferred prosecution training.
A joint committee from the initiative’s partnership of APA, CCI and BJA chose mentor sites to provide resources, networking and peer to peer networking, technical assistance to jurisdictions wishing to implement pre-trial diversion programs across the country.

August 9 - Mr. Hood and Ms. Tehrani participated in a conference call with Tara Kunkel of BJA and Aaron Arnold, Danielle Malangone, and Annie Schachar of CCI to discuss the Mentor Site applicants and begin initial selection of sites.
August 11 - Ms. Tehrani participated in a conference call with Tara Kunkel of BJA and Aaron Arnold, Danielle Malangone, Annie Schachar, and Melissa Labriola of CCI to discuss the Mentor Site applicants and the creation of the Diversion Toolkit.
August 15 - Mr. Hood participated in a conference call with Jeff Altenburg from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office to discuss the recent District Attorney’s election and the possible impact on his jurisdiction’s participation as a Mentor Site for Diversion.
August 16 - Ms. Tehrani participated in a phone conference with Derek Ritter, Chief, Diversion Courts Unit, Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, to discuss Philadelphia's questions about the Mentor Site program and the extent Mentor Sites would be involved with technical assistance.
August 22 - Mr. Hood and Ms. Tehrani of APA participated in a conference call with Tara Kunkel from BJA, and Chief Deputy Amelia Cramer of Pima County to discuss Pima County's Mentor Site Application for the Diversion Initiative.

October 11- Mr. Hood participated in a conference call with Tara Kunkel of BJA and Derek Riker of Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office to discuss Philadelphia's application to become a PLD mentor site.
