The Little Rock, Arkansas Police Department, as part of the Little Rock Violence Reduction Network (VRN) site, requested training and technical assistance for crime analysts. BJA NTTAC referred the requester to Chris Bruce, who provides training through the International Association of Crime Analysts and offered his time onsite to complete the training request.
The Little Rock PD held a call with Chris Bruce to discuss potential technical assistance and available training and certifications for crime analysts. Chris pointed the department in the direction of number of trainings available through IACA, and proposed that he spend time onsite with Little Rock PD to assess their crime analysis capacity, processes, and data access. This site visit will likely require 2.5 days: 2 days interviewing and observing various roles in the department, and a half day holding a roundtable with the leadership and the crime analysis team to talk about strategies for improving capacity and the quality of crime analysis products. The department is currently hiring an additional crime analysts, and will be prepared for this TA in the late-January through March time frame.
