The Center contracted with the Tribal Law and Policy Institute to assist in the development of the HTWC online curriculum. They are tasked with assisting in the lesson selection and facilitating filming of presentations and virtual site visits.
The Center met with TA partner, Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI), to discuss details of the partnership and tasks moving forward. Out of a list of 10 possible lessons, the Center and TLPI selected 3 lessons and presenters to be filmed at a later time: (1) Legal Issues in Indian Country presented by Carrie Garrow and Charlene Jackson; (2) Overview of Healing to Wellness Courts and the Tribal 10 Key Components, presenters to be determined; (3) Tribal Custom and Culture: Role of the Native Community presented by Donna Humetewa. It was decided that Legal Issues in Indian Country presentation will be filmed at the National Association of Drug Court Professionals in Anaheim, CA.
TLPI recommended either Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation or Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians as possible sites for the virtual site visit.
During the 2016 National Association of Drug Court Professionals conference in Anaheim, CA, the Legal Issues in Indian Country presentation, given by Charlene Jackson and Carrie Garrow, was filmed. It is currently in the editing stage.
The Center and TLPI selected the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation as the location of the virtual site visit supplement to the Healing to Wellness Online Curriculum. A meeting has been scheduled to determine the date of filming and other specifics.
During the 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Enhancement Training in Albuquerque, NM, the "Use of Tradition and Culture in Healing to Wellness Courts" presentation, given by Donna Humetewa was filmed. Center staff are coordinating with the presenter for updated PowerPoint materials in order to edit the video lesson.
During the 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Enhancement Training in Albuquerque, NM, the "Developing Phase Treatment " presentation, given by Mark Panasewicz was filmed. This video is currently in the editing phase by Center staff.
During the 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Enhancement Training in Albuquerque, NM, a role play session was recorded, in which Center staff and others at the training participated in a role play court session. This video is currently in the editing phase by Center staff.
During the 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Enhancement Training in Albuquerque, NM, the “Interagency Collaboration: Veterans Justice Outreach-Healing to Wellness Court Navajo Nation” presentation was filmed, given by Regina Roanhorse. This video will enter the editing phase.
All Healing to Wellness Court content that was filmed has been edited and prepared for upload to Treatment Courts Online.
Center staff will travel to Albuquerque Metro Healing To Wellness Court on May 8th, 2017 to film a virtual site visit on location.
