At the request of BJA, Kimberly Cobb developed presentations, served as faculty, and provided scholarships for three Intergovernmental Reentry Workshops during the last reporting period. As a follow-up to those workshops, Kimberly submitted a Change of Scope request on August 10, 2015 to follow-up with the tribes that participated in those workshops to gauge progress on their reentry initiatives and ascertain if further technical assistance is required to keep them moving forward with their plans. Kimberly also proposed to reach out to the tribes that applied to participate in one of the Intergovernmental Reentry Workshops but was not accepted to gauge their need for technical assistance related to reentry.
Emails were sent on October 20, 2015 to primary contact person listed on their IRW application for each of the 11 tribes that participated in one of the IRW’s to inquire about their technical assistance needs.
Jeff Harmon (prosecutor) for SRPMIC responded that he would like to discuss their reentry initiative. A call was scheduled for November 4, 2015. Jeff shared that his tribe is moving forward with planning a reentry initiative, even though no specific funds had been allocated. Kim shared that some tribes are combining a reentry coordinator position with a “community resource coordinator” and Jeff was very interested in that idea. I forwarded him a position description for such a position used by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians as well as the Snoqualmie Tribe. I further shared that once he gets someone hired on in that position, I could help him connect with the individuals working in those positions with the other tribes to serve as mentors. During this reporting period, Kimberly continued to reach out to Jeff to see if any assistance was needed.
