Robert Sullivan from Johnson County reached out to Mike Wilson on 11/20 about updating their cost-benefit tools. Johnson County has not used with the tools in the past six months, in part because no one is comfortable making changes to the existing models. Johnson County would like additional training on the tools and are interested in adapting the existing tools to a web-based interface.
Mike Wilson began working on adapting Johnson County’s existing CBA tools to a browser-based interface. In January, 2016, work was completed on the Johnson County general cost-benefit model, a significant amount of work was completed on the pretrial cost-benefit model, and work has begun on updating the users guide. In February 2016, Mike Wilson completed the initial Johnson County web-based model. He had meetings with the Sheriff’s office, JIMS (data system) staff, and staff from Corrections to finalize the general cost-benefit parameters. Mike Wilson spent much of March 2016 finalizing the flash file for the pretrial model. He worked with the developer to go through the specific layout of the model and discuss graphics to include. Time was also spent working with Johnson County to gather a few outstanding pieces of both the general CBA and pretrial CBA model. All of the data except the cost of probation has been gathered and entered in the general cost-benefit model. The pretrial user guide and methodology documents have been drafted but not finalized.
