Blackfeet Veterans Alliance Administrator Leo Pollock and Judge Sam Juneau reached out to Wellness Court Specialist Kristina Pacheco about creating a Veterans Court on the Blackfeet Reservation, along with local partners. An initial information gathering meeting occurred. A tentative plan was developed for a future onsite training with TLPI Veteran Consultant and TTA Partner Justice for Vets, potentially in to occur in October at the request of Blackfeet Nation. Wellness Court Specialist Kristina Pacheco coordinated a separate meeting with Justice for Vets Scott Tirocchi to request partnership for this onsite veteran training. The proposed plan is for Justice for Vets to support a 1-day training on the infrastructure and specific topics of interest, including an overview, focusing on military culture, skill-building, suicide and post-vention and TLPI will make a request to native veteran consultants for Day 2 to focus on culture. A meeting with Veteran Consultant Raymond Daw regarding this possible onsite training occurred and Consultant indicated that he could support Day 2 of the training to include Tribal veteran history, resilience, historical trauma, ACEs, Veteran trauma, PTSD, and/or traditional healing.
A joint meeting with TLPI staff and consultant, Justice for Vets, and Blackfeet Nation will occur next reporting period.
