The Center for Court Innovation will lead a two-year national research project explicitly designed to bring together leading subject matter experts, drug court researchers, and drug court practitioners in order to strengthen the theoretical and measurement foundation of drug court research and seed a new generation of rigorous evaluation. Peer consultants will work with the Center’s research team to make intellectual contributions to the design, administration and interpretation of a national survey and to collaborate with the Center researchers on the selection and design of proposals for new research in five pilot sites. This initiative will consist of a two-phased approach. The first phase will survey statewide drug court coordinators to identify trends in drug court data collection. The second phase will involve selecting pilot sites to serve as case studies to closer analyze data collection protocols. The Center seeks to produce a technical report on the survey findings, a practitioner monograph that will summarize emerging best practices
