Jul-Dec. 2023: Application approved to provide subject matter assistance to improve training to the state ’s public defense lawyers. NACDL has met with Vermont Public Defender training director and discussed speakers for their annual conference in June 2024, arranged for them to send individual to conference in Maine.
Jan-June 2024: Creating a quarterly training program for staff focusing on training on digital evidence, police misconduct and motion litigation, defense of sexual assault crimes and trial skills training. First program in March 2024 was on digital evidence. Presented in person at the second programs on June 19 2024, and obtained speakers for sessions in September and October on AHT homicides and sexual assault cases.
