Two meetings with veteran consultants occurred this reporting period supporting Objective 3.5: Expand services to native veterans.
1. 11/29/23 Meeting with veterans Raymond Daw and Sean Bear of the Native American Veterans Association, and Yurok Veteran's Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Coordinator Mica Brooks, to discuss possible ways to collaborate for this project to expand THWC activities to veterans. Consultants are available for in-person and virtual trainings. A possible training idea is a 1-day Native Veterans Wellness training as a pre-conference to Enhancement Training or as a regional training.
2. 12/4/23 Meeting with National American Indian Court Judges Association - Native Veteran Legal Assistance Project to discuss a continued partnership for veteran-focused activities. Possible activities are to offer a webinar on a potential Veteran THWC model or a presentation on legal issues affecting native veterans' qualification for Veteran Affair services for substance treatment.
Planning of veteran-focused activities will continue next reporting period.
