Description of the Problem

Availability of quality training programs and education in the areas of leadership, procedural justice, ethics, and police culture are not readily available. Those courses that are available are not priced in a range conducive to smaller agency budgets. As a department administrator overseeing 20 sworn officers, in a town of less than 10,000 people our budget is extremely limited and decreasing in terms of training and education. By utilizing federal funding opportunities, our department will be better equipped to train our officers in the critical and key areas necessary to build public trust and confidence.

The assistance will provide the opportunity for officers and administrators of the department to receive training and apply the lessons learned to our daily operations. This will in turn build greater trust and confidence within the community and those our department serves.
