Questions?

Submitted by Joselle Shea on

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, heretofore referred to as LASD, is requesting the Blue Courage two-day training program to benefit professional supervisors/managers.

Although LASD is requesting the grant, this training will include the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments as well as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and will be a valuable asset in the continued growth of the non-sworn supervisors, especially in the field of public safety where sworn personnel execute the primary mission. That mission, however, cannot be accomplished without the continued support and expertise of highly-trained professional supervisors.

How do you anticipate that the requested assistance will address the problems?
This training will provide non-sworn attendees the necessary tools to effectively deal with the high stress enviornment of public safety work that can sometimes lead to negative consequences affecting health and wellness. The Blue Courage Training (Two-Day) Non-Sworn Course Outline explains in more detail the objectives of the training but as stated in Article IV in the same outline, one highlight will be that participants will "...learn the biology of fight or flight and the chemical responses we experience due to chronic stress...Participants will learn the practices that 'interrupt thought patterns' and are renewing and health promoting when ritualized."

This two-day training is a perfect match for our requirements and Blue Courage has the necessary experience to present the course.
